Being Cree – nēhiyaw māmitonēyihcikan

“I value the world through nēhiyaw itāpisiniwin (world as seen by nēhiyaw), nēhiyaw pīkiskwēwin (Cree language), and Pitotowiynowak (other nationalities/cultures). My passion for learning about who I am, as well as acknowledging my relationship with the rest of the world are all inclusive of how I think, teach, plan and respond to people and the world around me.”

Gift of being an Artist – kā-isi-miyikowisiyān

“In addition to living the nēhiyaw itāpisiniwin (Cree worldview) way, I breathe, think, act and inspire as an artist. Innovative thinking, staying fresh with my ideas and presentations, exchanging joyfulness with those I meet, encouraging a sense of wonder in those with whom I engage, are all second nature to me.”

Bridging With One Other – kā-wītahpisomitoyahk

“Having always lived in two worlds, the nēhiyaw itāpisiniwin and Euro, I see the need for both worlds to develop a shared understanding of and appreciation for common ground and differences. I strive through my work and play with others to facilitate that understanding. See my list of workshops and keynote presentations for topics that relate to ‘bridging’.”

“This was an excellent presentation! I was proud to be a resident in the boreal forest. Our students sat motionless for the whole presentation, which speaks highly of your motivational presentation. I particularly enjoyed the musical instruments, the excellent pictures, stories, and the casual way it was presented. Students stayed afterward to experiment with the saw and the violin. Thanks for coming and we hope to meet you again.”
