Musician

An accomplished musical artist, Joseph records his own songs, collaborates with others, and is included on many CD compilations. One half of the duo called Nikamok, (pronounced ‘neegamuk’) with Cheryl L’hirondelle, Joseph recorded the independently produced album Nikamok (2000) at Turtle Island Studios.

More recently, Joseph released his album, All One People (2009), produced by Richard Dubé, Northern Spirit Flutes, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Whether solo, or working with fellow musicians, Joseph’s vocals and instrumentation enrich a variety of gatherings and venues throughout the year, including festivals, conferences, community-based and cultural events, as well as educational institutions.

Joe and I have shared songs that go way back in the history of our people: songs that pertain to ceremony and our way of life (protocol). Joe has the knowledge of creating the music of yesterday as well as today, combining what was thought to be impossible... creating music for the next generations that have yet to hear his music.”
